My name is Shari and currently will be homeschooling my youngest daughter who is almost 11yrs.old. She has spent most of her school years in public or private school. What has brought on homeschooling is many things the main one being the lack of discipline in the school, and the desire of my daughter who wants to become a missionary, she has mentioned her desire many times over the last year, and although I was listening,I would answer that she was a missionary in the school she was attending. Then I read a blog(at The Old Schoolhouse site)and realized that she wasn't ready to be a missionary...she doesn't have all of the knowledge. My dh and I also have two other daughters a 28yr. old,who is married and has four children of her own, they live in upstate New York..her dh is in the Army. We also have a 16 yr.old who just graduated, she has been homeschooled for seven years. I enjoy hand quilting, reading, baking and many other things..I also attend college online,so that if I ever want to open my home business, I will be prepared. Shari

Where in Illinois are you? I'm from Lebanon, IL and also lived in the Illinois Valley in central IL. We're down in Georgia now, but I still have family up there. We have a 13 year old daughter who has been homeschooling for the past 4 years and is starting High School this year. Welcome to the forum, it's a wonderful place to meet people and to get a lot of information!!!

I live in Chicago on the northside...we have been here 13 years(I think),anyhow it was after my dh got out of the service. I am not from here originally, but my dh was born and raised here,so this is where the Army sent him. I had never lived in a big city where you can't go into certain areas. This was a shock for me as we were looking for an apartment. Both of my parents worked for IBM so we moved alot during my growing up years. We always lived in diverse neighborhoods, which is what I wanted for our daughters, well now my current neighborhood is becoming a diverse neighborhood,so my girls are finally seeing that everyone is equal...

Re-try putting the avatar up. This site does that with a lot of my pics too. :-( Sometimes if you will repost the image, it will work. Check the image size too. I have found in the past that that was my problem.
