I recently came across a wonderful idea for moms who homeschool more than one child... create a reading/listening center. This idea is very inexpensive and you can utilize books you already have at home. All you need is a blank audio cassette tape, a tape recorder, any kind of story book (little golden books work well) and a voice of many tones. Record yourself as you read the book. Use different voice tones and excitement as you read. You can even ask questions to be answered by your child. As they listen to the story, they can also read along. Store the book(s) and tape in a gallon size storage baggie attached to a skirt hanger. I seem to have trouble "finding" things for my 1st grader to do while I am working with my other children. This is something she can do "on her own" until I can get back to her. I will update with any results I get.

Does anyone else have any ideas for learning centers?
