How to copy and paste.
Copying images and backgrounds.
Copy and paste allows you to work fast between say, a text editor such as notepad or MS word, and a web document, and lets you quickly share text between both applications, without having to retype everything over and over again.
What happens is that when you copy something, your computer puts it in it's internal "clipboard" and keeps it there for you to use in another application. Here we will learn how.
First you need to "Highlight" the text you want to copy. This is done by placing your mouse cursor at the beginning of the desired text and while holding the "left" mouse button depressed, and dragging the cursor across the text.
This is what text highlighted would look like.
(TIP. To highlight whole documents, you can click on the page and use the keyboard shortcut of pressing "ctrl" + "a".)
When you have the desired text highlighted, you then copy by using the key board short cut of pressing your "Control" key and the keyboards "c" key at the same time.
To copy "ctrl + c".
Alternative. Highlight text. Choose "edit" and then choose "copy"
To Paste the item that is now on your clipboard, you need to open up the program where you want the text to be. Click where you want the text positioned. From your keyboard, press "ctrl + v"
To paste "ctrl + v".
Alternative. Choose "edit". Choose "paste".
That's it, you can now copy and paste text.
Copying images and backgrounds.
At the beginning of our webpage building experience, we do need to find free to use graphics, or images and backgrounds, to make our pages look attractive. Most images you will be allowed to take freely, but please do not take anything which is copyright. If you are in doubt, email the person who owns the site and ask for permission prior to taking.
How to copy images.
It is a good idea to have a folder ready to where you will save the image or graphic.
Then you position your mouse cursor on the graphic you would like to save and "right Click" on the graphic.
A box will pop up and you choose "Save Picture As".
