Haven't been here in a long time (hello again) because I was very back and forth about homeschooling. However, now that I've decided to go for it, I'm in need of some support.
So here's my biggest concern.
I'm currently teaching my 4 1/2 yr old to read. We're practicing letter sounds and applying them to 3 letter words.
Am I doing this right? Is there a better way to teach this? I am very nervous about teaching my boys to read especially. I don't know why. I think it's just getting over that hump of the basics.
What have you ladies done?

I went through these exact feelings with my last two children. I actually made it harder on myself (and probably my children) than what it really was. I am currently teaching my grandson to read using the abeka curriculum. He is ADHD and was very behind in all things. Praise the Lord he is reading!!!!! I could just jump through hoops!!!! It has taken some extra time with him but I highly reccomend the abeka phonics and reading program.

Abeka does have a wonderful program for that age group. We used it and it worked heavenly.
