How To Add or Subtract Fractions
Need to add or subtract different fractions but can't remember how? Here's the steps you should follow:
Here's How: 1. Determine a common denominator for the two fractions. The denominator is the bottom number in the fraction.
2. Add the fractions together (you will add the top number, called the numerator, while the denominator stays the same).
3. Reduce the fraction by dividing both the numerator and the denominator by the same number.
Tips: The fraction is reduced when the numerator and the denominator can no longer be divided by the same number.
